  1. Turn off your cell phone.
  2. Set up a message on your phone that says you are driving and will respond later.
  3. Don’t respond to calls or texts until you have reached your destination or pulled over in a safe place
  4. Utilize your passenger to reply to messages, take calls, or do other activities that would prevent you from being attentive.
  5. Discipline yourself! Train your mind to accept that checking your phone while driving is not worth risking your safety or anyone else’s.
  6. If you are using a GPS, start the directions before you begin to drive.
  7. Make sure pets are secured.
  8. Pull over if you need to address your children’s needs.
  9. Don’t eat while driving.
  10. Know what your local laws are. Many states ban cell phone use while driving.
